Both the stand and the swing are made from durable, eco-friendly red shorea (red lauan) wood. Shorea is possibly the best wood choice for outdoor furniture. Related to Burma Teak, this hardwood grows naturally and plentifully in the Pacific Rim countries, making it considerably less expensive than teak. Because shorea is dense, heavy, and hard, and contains an abundance of natural oils, it is highly resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring.
About Shorea Wood and Linseed Oil
Shorea is possibly the best wood choice for outdoor furniture. Related to Burma teak, this hardwood grows naturally and plentifully in the Pacific Rim countries. Because shorea is dense, heavy, and hard, and contains an abundance of natural oils, it is highly resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring. Shorea (red lauan) wood will have variations is color - from a red to a yellow cast.
The Shorea wood for this item is treated with linseed oil. Linseed oil is not a varnish. The oil soaks into the pores of the wood leaving a shiny (not glossy) surface that shows off the grain of the wood. Linseed oil helps protects the wood from denting by compression and from accelerated deterioration.
After assembly simply wipe the bench with a damp cloth to remove any excess oil that may be remaining. Please note that it is recommended to let your bench sit outside for 2-3 days before sitting on it to let the stain air out and completely dry.

I put the swing and stand together completely by myself and I am only 5 feet tall and 105 pounds. It took me a little over an hour, would have been quicker but I had my 4 year old "helping" me. I plan to put some water proofing on it so it wont turn gray. It looks great in front of the house, right in the garden. Really adds to the landscaping and gives us a nice place to watch the flowers grow!

The product was shipped quickly and packed well. I am a single middle age female - the directions were not well written, nor were the pieces easily identifible (long bolt/short bolt) etc. All of the hardware identified was not in the box and I had to go to the hardware store to get 2 of the appropriate bolts & nuts. When hooking to the top beam the holes had to be drilled out because the bolts wouldn't fit all the way through AND let the washer and nut fit like it was supposed to. Regardless, with the help of a friend I got it together. My only concern on this product is the wood appears to be extremely soft and I'm not sure it is going to last very long in our hot Texas sun. It scratches and nicks very easy.

The design is good but must need to bolt down on patio for stability. The 5 ft swing is also not big enough for more than three (2 adult + 1 child).
The assembly has to be done exactly per instruction otherwise it is easy to mess. It does not mention how to handle one side of legs with beam and then continue other side. That is what I found difficult otherwise good set of tools/hardware.

This swing looks great in our backyard. Took about 3 hours to put together. It needs another stain and perhaps a coat of poly, but other than that it's in great shape. Like other reviewers, we will probably need to anchor the swing for stability.
