Wood Care Instructions
After assembly, furniture should be rinsed well with water to remove dust left over from manufacturing. This should be done before placing on concrete or tile to prevent staining. Since Shorea has such high oil content and is so dense, it weathers well outside without maintenance at all. Shorea will weather naturally to silver gray. While the weather process may change its color, the grain will still be smooth. You may treat each piece with Teak oil to prolong weathering.
A seasonal cleaning may be desired. This can be done easily with a mild solution of water, laundry detergent, and a little bleach. Just rinse the furniture and use a sponge or soft bristle brush to scrub the furniture with the solution. Lastly, rinse the furniture with more fresh water.
If the original warm brown color is preferred, Oxford Garden suggests any teak oil to be used seasonally to preserve the color. The application of oil is simply cosmetic. Test in an inconspicuous spot to approve the color before applying to the whole piece of furniture. Application of oil is at the customer's discretion and is not included in the warranty. If the original wood color is preferred after graying has begun, Oxford Garden recommends using a wood cleaner to restore the color. Follow up with a new application of teak oil.
Painting or using polyurethane is NOT recommended due to the high oil content of shorea wood. Because some surface roughness may develop early in the weathering process, a very light sanding may be desired to smooth out the roughness. Follow up with a dry rough cleaning sponge to remove any remaining sawdust.

I ordered this swing for my husband's birthday present. It was fairly simple to put together and it looks good, but when it comes to hanging, it gets complicated. The "perfect accessory" that comes up when you purchase - porch swing hanging hooks - do not come with screws AND you must ORDER TWO for this swing because it comes with four ropes. So, after paying two workmen hourly, and spending way too much of my day on the phone and internet and supply store trying to figure out what to do, I am waiting to hang my porch swing after my second kit arrives. Unfortunately, my husband's birthday present will not be ready on his birthday.

I would love to be swinging on my front porch right now, drinking my cup of coffee. However, that is not possible because the swing did not come prepared to hang. My husband, who just built our home and is very capable, has spent days trying to demystify the ropes that came with the swing. So I said, "just call customer service", thinking that would solve the problem and he did...and got a recording. I'm not a very happy customer.

Perfect fit to our Chadwick table/chair set. Swing was easy to assemble, however the ropes were not functional and the directions offered no tips for hanging installation. Ropes may come in handy for a tree hanging application, but not on a porch. Manufacturer customer service was helpful. Purchased some quality chain/hooks and it's in place for years of use. Excellent swing. Thanks.

I purchased this swing suggested by my Son for a Mothers Day Gift... The Quality is much better than the swings commonly found in large Home and Hardware Stores. The cost is slightly higher, but in this product, you get what you pay for. Our first porch swing purchase was from [...] and the swing was redwood, it simply did not hold up to the mild weather and we paid 100.00 for it... The Oxford is certainly a big leap forward and it appears as if it will last 10x longer than the other swings. I assembled the swing with high quality wood glue on all of the joints and treated the wood with teak oil... It looks custom made and looks much more expensive than our purchase price... Highly recommended for the consumer that is looking for quality over value...
