Maintenance and Care Instructions
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Our furniture is treated with two layers of waterproof stain. Furniture that remains indoors or under a covered porch requires no further treatment under normal circumstances. When used outdoors without a covering, several options are available for the care of the furniture. First, is to do nothing. The result is that over time the furniture will turn silver gray. The determinant as to how fast the furniture will turn silver gray is dependent on the furnitures level of exposure to sun and moisture. Minor fillers which were applied during construction will eventually crack during normal use.
The second option is to apply an oil based sealant suitable for outdoor hardwood furniture. We recommend that two or three coats of sealant be applied prior to placing the furniture outdoors. If you decide to apply a sealant at a later time, you will be required to sand the furniture, thoroughly clean and dry it prior to applying the coats of sealant. Any sealant selected will provide instructions on its application.
A third option is to simply apply teak oil on as needed basis. The frequency of application is dictated by the level of sun and moisture the furniture is exposed to.
