About Shorea Wood
Shorea is possibly the best wood choice for outdoor furniture. Related to Burma teak, this hardwood grows naturally and plentifully in the Pacific Rim countries, making it considerably less expensive than teak. Because shorea is dense, heavy, and hard, and contains an abundance of natural oils, it is highly resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring.
Shorea is strong and weather-resistant enough to be left untreated. If left untreated, each piece will weather to a nice shade of gray. The weathering process will change the color, but the grain will still be smooth. You may treat each piece with Teak Oil to prolong weathering. Each piece is durable, classic, and elegant.

The wood came with many nicks and dings due to poor packaging. There was also missing hardware. The slider mechanisms are partially pressure fit together and therefore jump out of alignment.

We purchased this glider,, and thought it was going to be what we wanted.. nice, easy to put together.. we purchased this..only to find out.. parts were MISSING and that one of the slats.. was not even attached to the seat.. Very unhappy for the price we paid..

The bench looks great. OK comfortwise, needs coushion (which I will get). The swinging motion (travel) is too short. This does not swing like a hanging swing. It needs to have a greater travel (maybe longer swing arms?). But otherwise, I still like the bench.
